This Senior Engineer position reports to the Utility Maintenance Engineering Unit which supports the water utility maintenance and operations. The position will lead, direct, and oversee the District's Mechanical Engineering Program that includes large pump (up to 2,000 HP) repair and rebuild projects and a variety of operations and maintenance support and testing services for the mechanical equipment used at water supply, storage, treatment plants and distribution facilities as well as the District's corrosion control program. This position will supervise several mechanical engineers and technicians as well as manage interdisciplinary teams working on a variety of projects. They will also oversee the negotiation and administration of consultant, professional services, and construction contracts. This position is also responsible for the development of specifications, designs, drawings, test plans, root cause analysis of failures, and a variety of inspection and condition assessment reports supporting water utility maintenance and operations.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Six (6) years of professional mechanical engineering experience, including at least two (2) years of lead responsibility.
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in mechanical engineering or a related field.
License or Certificate:
Possess and maintain a valid license as a Professional Engineer issued by the California Board of Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists
