The Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG) is engaged in updating regional and local plans for Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) in the Sacramento region, including ways to support new technologies such as connected and autonomous vehicles, and methods for better communicating transportation information to the region's residents and visitors, and traffic information to/from the region's traffic managers. SACOG manages the region's 511/STARNET system, which serves as the current hub for regional traffic and travel data and information. SACOG also convenes an ITS Partnership of local agency staff who work on ITS for information-sharing and collaboration.SACOG is seeking an outgoing, tech-savvy student, interested in research and analysis, for an approximately one year paid Internship to assist with its ITS work. All applicants are required to be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate level program at a college or university. Hours are flexible, and may be up to 15-25 hours per week.
