Overview / ResponsibilitiesWood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions, Inc. is seeking a Civil Designer with a minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience to join our team located in Kennesaw, Georgia. We are looking for a self-motivated candidate who is able to work as part of a project team, can multitask, has strong hands-on knowledge of AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and can support technical reports, drawings, and calculations. Experience in site grading for industrial, commercial, and government facilities desired; design of large solar projects is a plus. The position will include work on a variety of multi-disciplinary projects that have a substantial emphasis on civil site design including stormwater management and general civil design.Key ResponsibilitiesThis person will be a member of a team providing civil engineering services to government, local agencies, private industry, and commercial clients. This position will support a wide variety of projects that include stormwater management, earthwork, and traditional site development. The responsibilities of this position include the following:Prepare Civil 3D grading plans and design erosion control systemsPerform hydraulics and hydrology calculations, modelling and report preparationAct as a data gatherer; prepare maps and charts; run engineering computer programsPrepare draft site development designs including layout, grading, utilities, etc.Contact vendors; research literature and regulatory requirementsInteract with specialists in other technical practice areas in support of multi-disciplinary projectsFollow company safety standards, site safety standards
Skills / QualificationsAssociate degree in Civil Engineering, 3 to 5 years of related experience, or an acceptable combination of education and/or experienceStrong skill with AutoCAD, Civil 3D and civil design software requiredExperience with office and industry-specific software (e.g., MS Office, MS Excel, etc.) requiredOutgoing / well-spoken team player with strong problem solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritiesValid driver's license and good driving record are requiredA physical exam may be required to obtain medical clearance to work in the fieldFlexibility to work outside normal business hours as requiredPhysical DemandsAble to do field work such as surveying, limited soil sampling, packing shipping containers, etc.Must be able to do limited travel and perform unimpeded standing and walking in industrial and field environments for up to 8 hours per workdayCompany OverviewWood is a global leader in the delivery of project, engineering and technical services to energy and industrial markets.
