Overview / ResponsibilitiesWood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions, Inc. is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer with approximately 4 to 6 years’ experience to join our team located in Kennesaw, Georgia. We are looking for a self-motivated candidate who is able to work as part of a project team, can multitask, has strong hands-on knowledge of AutoCAD, strong technical writing skills; can perform draft engineering fee estimates, and can prepare technical reports, drawings, and calculations for review. The position will include work on a variety of multi-disciplinary projects that have a substantial emphasis on general civil design including grading, stormwater management, permitting, and project-related client interaction.Key ResponsibilitiesThis person will be a member of a team providing civil engineering design and consulting services to government, local agencies, private industry, and commercial clients. The civil team is part of a large multi-discipline Design Center. This position will support a wide variety of projects including site design and construction projects. The responsibilities of this position include the following:Participate and perform civil engineering computations, analysis, and site design including engineering analysis, feasibility studies, preparation of drawings and specifications, report writing, cost estimating, construction oversight and client interactionDesign of stormwater management systems, grading, erosion control, utilities, site layout and access for a variety of developments or environmental projectsPrepare hydrology and other reports, run engineering computer programsInterpret data and test results, write complete reportsContact vendors; research literature and regulatory requirementsPrepare quantity take-offs and construction cost estimatesInteract with specialists in other technical practice areas in support of multi-disciplinary projectsPrepare field reports, internal correspondence and sections of formal reportsParticipate in proposal writingMay be assigned limited field construction oversight responsibilities; Ability to conduct or oversee some field assignments, and willingness for limited travelSupervise subcontractors and / or company employees included in design teamsFollow company safety standards, site safety standards
Skills / QualificationsBS or MS degree in Civil Engineering4 to 6 years of related experienceE.I.T./F.E. required, P.E. preferredProficiency with desktop and industry-specific software (e.g., MS Office, MS Excel, civil design software) requiredSkill with AutoCAD, Hydraflow, Civil 3D and familiarity with hydraulics and hydrologic computer models like HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS desiredOutgoing / team player with strong communication and problem solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritiesStrong written and verbal communication skillsExperience in performing site inspections and field visitsAbility to perform unimpeded standing and walking in industrial and field environments for up to 8 hours per workdayFlexibility to work outside normal business hours as requiredValid driver's license and good driving record are requiredCompany OverviewWood is a global leader in the delivery of project, engineering and technical services to energy and industrial markets.
