Research Scientist – Bioinformatics -Translational Research Institute – Orlando

Located on a lush tropical campus, our flagship hospital, 1,107-bed Florida Hospital Orlando, serves as the major tertiary facility for much of the Southeast, the Caribbean and South America. Florida Hospital Orlando houses one of the largest Emergency Departments and largest cardiac catheterization labs in the country. We are already one of the busiest hospitals in the nation, providing service excellence to more than 32,000 inpatients and 125,000 outpatients each year.
The Research Scientist, Bioinformatics, under the direction of the Scientific Director, Director, will be responsible for analyzing complex data sets from a variety of platforms including: genome-wide transcriptomic (e.g. RNA-seq, microarray) data sets, epigenomics, proteomics and metabolomics. Qualified candidates will be proficient in applying standard analysis tools and algorithms for next generation sequencing analyses, possess strong analytical skills, a working knowledge of biostatistics, and an ability to work in a collaborative, multi-stakeholder environment. Ability to represent the Bioinformatics needs of the TRI-MD and investigators in multi-institutional partnerships and projects. The Research Scientist, Bioinformatics will ensure that all research performed under their direction is in compliance with all Florida Hospital, TRI, local, state, and federal laws, policies and procedures.

The Translational Research Institute for Metabolism and Diabetes (TRI-MD) Senior Research Scientist – Metabolic Disease provides leadership through participating in federal and non-federally sponsored clinical and translational research at TRI-MD. Develops novel research ideas and fosters collaboration with TRI-MD faculty members and external partners and seeks external funding to support these ideas. The Senior Scientist provides mentorship and guidance to TRI-MD Research Scientists as appropriate, and ensures all research performed under his/her direction is in compliance with all Florida Hospital and TRI policies and procedures and local, state, and federal laws. The Senior Research Scientist is expected to participate in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
