The Center for Neuroscience in the Biosciences Division has an opening for a Postdoctoral Fellow (PDF) to conduct preclinical EEG and behavioral studies investigating EEG translational biomarkers for the presence and treatment of disease. The successful candidate will work within a sleep and circadian neurobiology program that utilizes molecular, neuroanatomical, cellular neurophysiological and in vivo physiological approaches including optogenetics and microendoscopy. We are particularly interested in candidates with prior experience conducting EEG and behavioral studies in preclinical models. Although projects may include NIH grant-based studies, foundation-funded studies and/or Institute-funded studies, a primary focus will be on industry-funded projects such as pharmacoEEG studies. The PDF will be expected to collaborate with current research staff, help manage Research Associates, collect and organize data, prepare manuscripts for publication and help advance the overall technical and intellectual research environment. Opportunities exist within the Division to collaborate with chemists to create intellectual property. Interaction with other Divisions in bioinformatics and technology development is encouraged.
The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. or M.D. in Biological Sciences or related field with zero to four years post-doctoral years of experience and a strong publication record. The ideal candidate has skills and prior experience conducting EEG and behavioral studies using preclinical or in vivo models. Experience with signal processing and analysis such as quantitative EEG analysis is desired. Experience working with large data sets is a plus and experience writing MATLAB scripts valuable. Ability to work as a team member and strong communication skills, both verbal and written, is an absolute requirement. Some weekend work will be necessary. An organized, detail-oriented applicant is sought.
This position will require a post-offer, pre laboratory placement physical examination. Candidates who receive a conditional offer of employment will be subject to a background check.
