Under the general guidance of the Transportation Infrastructure & Operations Manager, oversee the maintenance and repair work for all aspects of the city's transportation infrastructure including prioritizing, assigning, and directing supervisors and crews performing maintenance work, and proactively collaborating with other Transportation work groups to identify and prioritize projects and plans that ensure the safe and effective function of the transportation infrastructure. Performs related administrative duties as required.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Associate of Science degree in Engineering or Construction Management or a related field and at least five years of progressively responsible transportation maintenance experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience. At least two years of supervisory experience of field personnel. Thorough knowledge of transportation infrastructure operations and maintenance, greenscape maintenance including snow and ice control. Ability to plan work activities, to give and receive verbal instructions, and to coordinate the work of others. Effective communication skills, including strong written and verbal communication. Demonstrated interpersonal skills including the ability to resolve problems and provide information to the public in a responsive and courteous manner, to act as a leader and coordinate the work of others, and to develop and maintain effective working relationships at all levels of the organization. Demonstrated ability and initiative to work independently with minimal supervision, to prioritize and resolve problems and to carry tasks to completion. Ability to effectively use technology as required in the office and in the field. Asset management database knowledge and usage. Ability to perform a wide variety of physical and manual tasks in an outdoor environment. Physical ability to stand, walk, and kneel and to use a variety of tools and equipment while working in and around moving traffic. Working knowledge of applicable OSHA, EPA, and DOT safety regulations. Ability to occasionally operate equipment. Willingness to participate in training which is applicable to job requirements. Ability to obtain within six months from date of hire: ATSSA or equivalent certification as a traffic flagger, Traffic Control Technician (TCT) and First Aid/CPR certified through Red Cross or equivalent accredited institution. Ability and willingness to work irregular hours, weekends, evenings, holidays, and/or emergencies. Experience with snow operations.. Valid driver's license. Ability to obtain within probation period a valid Colorado Commercial Driver's License with the following endorsements: A-Combination; Tanker and without L-Airbrake Restriction. Have and maintain acceptable background information, including criminal conviction history and motor vehicle record. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS – In addition to the required minimum qualifications:Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Construction Management or a related field. Experience supervising a maintenance or construction work crew. Ability to read construction drawings. Work experience demonstrating a background in street construction or maintenance, asphalt and concrete work, or general construction and equipment operation. Working knowledge of irrigation and pump system design, hydraulics and maintenance practices. Working experience with irrigation and landscape plans and designs. ATSSA or equivalent certification as a traffic flagger, or Traffic Control Technician (TCT) or Traffic Safety/Flagger instructor certified. First Aid/CPR certified through Red Cross or equivalent accredited institution. Certified equipment operator instructor. Experience operating heavy equipment. Bi-Lingual in English and Spanish. Valid Colorado Commercial Driver's License with the following endorsements: A-Combination; N-Tanker and without L-Airbrake Restriction
