Overview / ResponsibilitiesWood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions’ Chantilly, VA office is seeking a Senior Environmental Engineer or Scientist with experience in consulting, managing, designing and implementing environmental investigation and remediation programs for a variety of clients in the Industrial, Government, Energy, and Transportation sectors.
Position Summary and ResponsibilitiesThe position will involve all facets of environmental remediation including, but not limited to: hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, soil cut/fill volume calculations, remediation feasibility studies and cost estimates, remedial investigations, remedial design of treatment facilities, construction oversight, and operation and maintenance support. This position offers the opportunity to work with a diverse team of engineers and scientists to address complex environmental challenges executing the following roles/responsibilities:
Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare engineering evaluations and feasibility studies, design solutions, and develop conceptual cost estimatesPrepare project planning and reporting documents including investigation work plans, sampling and analysis plans, remedial action plans, permitting submittals, and construction complete reportsAnalyze and interpret environmental data and prepare related reportsPrepare and/or support development of environmental permit applications for site development projects and remediation workDevelop and review plans, specifications and special provisions for site design and remediation projectsPrepare requests for proposals and assist in subcontractor procurementDevelop or support proposal efforts for public and private clientsOversee remedial action implementation and provide construction management support including review of contractor submittalsPerform oversight, mentorship and direct the efforts of staff- and project-level staffAssist with developing new work to support the teamLead preparation of technical reports and proposalsSuccessfully interact with other Principal and Senior-level employees in the office and firm-wideManage multiple projects, being responsible for ensuring that deliverables, schedules and budgets are achievedTravel to project(s) as needed, for the execution of project goals
Skills / QualificationsB.S. in Engineering, or related technical fieldProfessional Engineering license in Virginia, Maryland, and/or Pennsylvania desirable10+ years related environmental remediation experienceStrong work ethicMust be a self-starter, team oriented with excellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work with, mentor, and direct engineers and techniciansAbility to effectively manage projects and programsExhibit ability to successfully track and meet budgets and schedulesCandidate should have experience with CERCLA, RCRA, and VA, MD, PA, and/or NJ State ProgramsDeveloping and managing complex engineering design and design-build projectsOversee remedy construction and operation and maintenance of environmental project workMust pass drug test, physical, background check and must have a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company’s driving (Motor Vehicle Safety) policy
