Postdoctoral Research Associate: Multimodal State Estimation through Neural Coherence in the Parieto-Frontal Network
School of Biological and Health Systems Engineering, Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering, Arizona State University, Tempe AZ
A full-time NSF-funded postdoctoral position is available at Arizona State University (ASU) to study the neural mechanisms of multisensory integration during arm reaching behaviors. The project will use state-of-the-art multisite brain recordings and virtual reality technologies to investigate visuo-proprioceptive representations of the arm in sensory and motor regions of the primate brain. Faculty in the neural engineering group at ASU currently work on the monitoring and development of brain machine interfaces, neuroprosthetics, wearable devices for measuring sensorimotor function, prediction of epileptic seizures, and device-assisted rehabilitative therapies for a variety of neurological disorders including stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, and Parkinson’s disease. Faculty in this group also collaborate with world-class clinicians, translational and basic scientists, and engineers in the Phoenix metro area.
Candidates must have: (a) Ph.D. in neuroscience, biomedical engineering or related field (b) a research record (c) teaching and/or mentorship experience, and (d) demonstrated interest in in discipline-based research. Successful candidates will interact with the PIs (Christopher Buneo (ASU), Bijan Pesaran (NYU)) as well as other faculty and labs in the neural engineering and neurorehabilitation group in ASU’s School of Biological and Health Systems Engineering (SBHSE).
Preference will be given to candidates with the following characteristics: experience in non-human primate behavioral neurophysiology and/or the analysis of large neuronal data sets.
Candidates should electronically submit a current CV in PDF format and contact information for three references to email@example.com . The position is a full-time, benefits eligible, fiscal appointment with a flexible start date of sometime between August 1, 2018 and September 1, 2018 with the possibility of renewal annually, dependent on available funding, performance and the needs of the University. The salary will be $47,476. The initial close date for receipt of applications is July 27th, 2018; applications will be reviewed weekly thereafter until the search is closed. A background check is required for employment. Arizona State University is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer committed to excellence through diversity. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply.
