In this position you will provide solutions for your clients and lead technical initiatives.Key ResponsibilitiesThe engineer in this position will be a part of a team of mechanical engineers responsible for the execution of projects and submittal of final deliverables or construction documentsPerforming field investigation, inspections, analysis, develop design concepts and prepare mechanical design drawingsDesign of facility HVAC and plumbing systemsExecute mechanical HVAC, Piping and Plumbing system drawing developmentPreparation of construction drawings and specificationsRunning heating and cooling load programsContacting vendors; researching literature and regulatory requirementsConducting engineering, scientific and routine calculationsPreparing and evaluating data setsAssisting in preparing reports and proposal writingPreparing mechanical/piping design drawings Coordinating project assignments with those of other engineers and designersReviewing existing drawings supplied by vendors, clients, and engineers and field verifies to check for accuracy and completeness and recommends necessary changesResearching design options, documenting findings and presenting options to Project TeamAssisting with other duties assigned by Project Engineers and/or Project ManagersAttending "kick-off" and design review meetings and interacting with client on a daily basisCommunicating, both verbally and in written form, in a professional manner with engineers, construction, equipment suppliers, fabrication shops and clientWork on technical assignments (both field and office) and support HVAC design and energy related projectsField assignments are local, national and international depending on technical capabilities and desire to travel; Overnight travel is estimated to be a minimum of 25% and up to 50% at times depending on the projectGenerates workload plans, design analyses, and construction documentsTypical team assignments will include HVAC retrofit projects, interfacing with clients and contractors, project cost estimation, energy auditing of large HVAC systems and controls, identification of energy conservation measures, boiler and chiller plant upgrades, DDC systems and building stimulation energy modelingThe individual will work with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, and designers on building design projects with an emphasis on engineering design and plan production; Projects include building design for restoration, renovations and new constructionDevelop schematics, plan drawings, elevation views, section views, and installation detailsConvey results and findings by means of oral discussions, graphic-based presentations and project documentationDesign or redesign complex layouts and drawings from general sketches, or written and verbal specifications from project team membersCreate exhibits and documents for presentations and reportsWork with the project team to investigate and resolve problems with existing designs and make corrections to drawings as requested by the senior staffCreate and update database of design records for reference and utilization on future projects.Adhere to discipline-specific AutoCAD and design standardsDesign requirements will include creating standards, details, drawing templates, sheet sets, drawings and designsExecutes facility designs in accordance with applicable codes and standardsWorks under the supervision of a Senior EngineerGenerates workload plans, design analyses, and drawing plans
Skills / QualificationsRequiredB.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering4+ years’ experience in a heavy industrial, manufacturing facility experienceProfessional engineering (PE - Mechanical) license in any US State or Territory is a plusPrior experience conducting heating and cooling calculationsPrior experience designing and specifying plumbing, HVAC, fuel systems, and fire protection systemsAUTOCAD experience developing drawings for plumbing and HVAC systemsField coordination experienceAbility to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writingFamiliarity with Local Government permitting codes related to utilities, HVAC, fire protection, and plumbing. Strong understanding of building and NFPA codes, and ASHRAE standardsProficiency in MS OfficeProven ability to read, understand, and develop design drawingsMust have HVAC, piping and plumbing system design/drafting experience.
