Prototypes of irrigation decision tools have been developed based on crop models. This new project is to further develop, test and validate those programs, by utilizing information derived from remote sensing and high resolution weather forecast. The PhD student will lead in (1) further development and expansion of the decision tools, (2) working with researchers and producers to apply those tools for irrigation management, and (3) collection of field data for testing and validation of the tools. The student will also have the opportunities to gain teaching experience, present and participate at professional scientific meetings. The student will be co-supervised by Drs. Haishun Yang and William Kranz.
