Overview / Responsibilities Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions is hiring an Environmental Scientist or Geologist to support environmental projects managed out of our St. Louis, Missouri office. The successful candidate will have experience in soil sampling, be able to update and maintain field documentation, and have a good work ethic. This role will primarily consist of collecting soil and groundwater samples and report writing.Key Responsibilities•Maintenance of equipment calibration logs•Documentation of field activities for specific tasks performed for each project•Tasks may include general labor and construction activities•Use of Geographical Positioning Systems (GPS) for collection of environmental data•Adherence to all Health & Safety Standards in all field-related activities•Assists the Project Manager and team in ensuring effective client and regulatory agency communication and relations•Reviews subcontractor submittals including work plans, health and safety plans, and quality control plans•Conducts multi-media sampling, including soil, groundwater, vapor, indoor air, asbestos, and other regulated materials•Conducts oversight of subcontractors, including utility locators, drillers (direct push, sonic, and hollow stem auger), remediation contractors, surveyors, and emergency response contractors•Performs remediation system operation and maintenance, including troubleshooting, minor repairs and / or modifications•Evaluates compliance of subcontractor work against technical specifications and scopes of work•Prepares or assists in preparing remedial investigation reports, remedial / corrective action plans, remedial designs, due diligence reports, and related documents. Includes work summaries, data summaries, engineering calculations, summary tables, figures, engineering drawings and specifications, and report text•Demonstrates and maintains competency in a diverse set of local, state, and federal environmental regulations•The position may entail approximately 20% office work and 80% field work on a variety of projects, primarily for industrial and commercial clients
Skills / Qualifications •B.S. degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science or related field., P.G, or CPG preferable (or willingness to attain license)•0 - 5 years environmental consulting experience•Proficient in MS Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)•Excellent communication, both verbal and written, and organizational abilities•Willingness and ability to interact with regulatory agencies, stakeholders and clients and develop effective teamwork relationships•Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours as required•Ability and willingness to travel to project sites primarily in Missouri and surrounding states•OSHA HAZWOPER 40 hour training in accordance with 29CFR 1910.120•Must pass drug test, entrance physical, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policyCompany Overview Wood is a global leader in the delivery of project, engineering and technical services to energy and industrial markets.
