The Engineer IV performs a variety of engineering duties of a complex nature which may include any combination of:
The successful candidate will be required to obtain the Erosion Sediment Control certification (combined or plan reviewer or administrator within 12 months) and will have 24 months to complete the Virginia Stormwater Management Program Administrator Course and have certification as a Program Administrator.
-The candidate should have demonstrated proficiency with supervising technical staff (engineers and technicians) in performance of CIP design and/or construction project management and developer plan review for water and sanitary sewer systems;
-Extensive experience and knowledge of highway (including VDOT projects), water/sanitary sewer utility, drainage facility, and design and construction to include service taps installation;
-Experience with managing multiple municipal CIP projects and/or programs; Experience with developing solutions to complex engineering design and construction problems;
-Experience with Regulatory Programs including but not limited to SSES, MS4, FOG and Backflow Prevention/Cross-connection Control;
-Experience with water and sanitary sewer system operational requirements;
-Experience with developing and implementing departmental policies;
-Experience as an effective communicator with the public;
-Experience with principles and practices of municipal financial accounting procedures for CIP projects;
-Possesses excellent verbal and written skills; and has advanced knowledge of relevant computer software.
Requires a Bachelor’s Degree from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) approved engineering or engineering technology program with a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license from the Virginia Board of Architects, Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, Certified Interior Designers and Landscape Architects (APELSCIDLA) and seven (7) years of progressive professional experience; OR, an Associate’s Degree in Engineering with ten (10) years of progressive professional experience and a P.E. license.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: All employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies
