The City of Hendersonville has a great opportunity for a dynamic and innovative engineer interested in working in a vibrate city with a growing water and sewer system located in western North Carolina. The Development Review Engineer, which is classified as a Civil Engineer I, is a new position in the City’s Engineering Department working closely with the Water & Sewer Department and reviewing the water and sewer extension components of private development and construction plans for compliance with local, state and federal ordinances, standards and specifications, and sound engineering practices.
The Development Review Engineer will serve as the internal and external coordinator for developers, engineers, contractors, stakeholders, and related work groups regarding water and sewer extension components of development projects. This position will also prepare and organize reports, standards, water and sewer models, correspondence, policies, procedures, and other materials to assist in documenting, recording, and providing information on the activities for water and sewer extensions; therefore, effective verbal and written communication skills in a variety of settings are essential.
Other duties and responsibilities include:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET/EAC accredited program required with from one (1) to three (3) years of progressive engineering experience. Skill in use of AutoDesk Civil 3D and ESRI ArcGIS is preferred. North Carolina Certified Engineer-Intern preferred.
