Overview / Responsibilities Amec Foster Wheeler Environment & Infrastructure is seeking a Civil Engineer with approximately 1 to 3 years’ experience to join our team located in Kennesaw, Georgia. We are looking for a self-motivated candidate who is able to work as part of a project team, can multitask, has strong hands-on knowledge of AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, strong technical writing skills; and can support technical reports, drawings, and calculations. The position will include work on a variety of multi-disciplinary projects that have a substantial emphasis on civil site design including stormwater management and general civil design.Key ResponsibilitiesThis person will be a member of a team providing primarily environmental and civil engineering services to government, local agencies, private industry, and commercial clients. This position will support a wide variety of projects including stormwater, earthwork, and construction projects. Some of the responsibilities of this position may include the following: •Perform hydraulics and hydrology calculations for civil site development and other facilities •Perform field exploration, inspection, and analysis; provide technical support with supervision•Prepare field reports, internal correspondence and sections of formal reports•Act as a data gatherer; prepare maps and charts; run engineering computer programs•Interpret data and test results. With experience, may write complete reports•May be assigned field construction oversight responsibilities. Ability to conduct or oversee some field assignments, and willingness for limited travel•With experience, may supervise subcontractors and / or company employees•Follow company safety standards, site safety standards•Conduct engineering or scientific calculations; perform design work, analysis, and layout•Contacts vendors; researches literature and regulatory requirements; prepares draft designs•Participate and perform civil engineering computations and analysis and design. The work will include engineering analysis, feasibility studies, designs, preparation of plans and specifications, report writing, cost estimating, construction oversight and client interaction•Interact with specialists in other technical practice areas in support of multi-disciplinary projects
Skills / Qualifications •BS degree in Civil Engineering •1 to 2 years of related experience•E.I.T. (preferred)•Experience with desktop and industry-specific software (e.g., MS Office, MS Excel, MicroStation, AutoCAD, Hydraflow, GIS, Civil 3D, MS Project) and familiarity with hydraulics and hydrologic computer models like HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS desired•Valid driver's license is required•A physical exam may be required to obtain medical clearance on hazardous waste sites•Flexibility to work outside normal business hours as required•Outgoing / well-spoken team player with strong problem solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritiesPhysical Demands•Able to do field work such as surveying, limited soil sampling, packing shipping containers, etc.•Must be able to do limited travel and perform unimpeded standing and walking in industrial and field environments for up to 8 hours per workday•Must be physically capable of performing work in health and safety (H&S) personal protective equipment (PPE)Diversity Statement We are an equal opportunity employer that recognises the value of a diverse workforce.
