Reporting to the Assistant Town Manager, the Town Engineer works across departments and with various community stakeholders including citizens, developers and consultants, to ensure that the goals of the Town are met regarding land development and stormwater engineering. The Town Engineer will lead the Morrisville Engineering Department which consists of 5FTE staff and will manage an approximate $600,000 operating budget (excluding capital project funding). The Town Engineer plays a primary role in leading and as a team member in town infrastructure projects. The Town Engineer also oversees the Stormwater Division, with 3 FTES and an approximate $900,000 annual operating budget. A bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably Civil, is required while a master’s degree is preferred. Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of North Carolina is required. The ideal candidate has five (5) or more years of progressively responsible experience in civil engineering and related knowledge in the areas of land development regulation, transportation infrastructure and stormwater management. Local government experience is preferred. Supervisory experience is required. The minimum hiring salary is $85,500, with the hiring salary negotiated based on credentials and experience.
