Biomedical Engineer Opportunity Available
James J. Peters VA Medical Center in the Bronx, New York is a modern tertiary care Facility affiliated with the Mount Sinai School of Medicine and the Hospital for Special Surgery. It is located in the NW Bronx on a self-contained campus easily accessible by car (free parking for eligible employees) and public transportation.
The Biomedical Engineer serves as a Clinical Engineer (CE) in the Clinical Engineering Service at the James J. Peters (JJP) VA Medical Center (VAMC), a tertiary care facility. The Clinical Engineering Service encompasses professional engineering consulting with the medical staff in all areas involving medical instrumentation; in-house services for calibration, repair and safety of all medical instrumentation, medical equipment computers and medical data processing, assurance of meeting guidelines set by the Veteran Affairs and other code-setting agencies regarding overall maintenance and safety of medical device instrumentation. Assists and advises Clinical and administrative staff on medical engineering technology including existing and emerging technology, addressing viability, long-term suitability, compatibility, and/or safety, while keeping abreast of changes in technology and utilizing information gained in the solution of Clinical Engineering problems. Assists and makes recommendations with the Clinical Engineering team in developing maintenance strategies for all categories or models of equipment based upon established risk criteria, manufacturer's recommendations and other applicable biomedical industry standards.
