Our Engineering Department provides engineering expertise, construction project management, technical services, and support to Central Arizona Project (CAP) and is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to provide discipline expertise to CAP’s capital improvement projects and internal asset modernization process.
CAP is the largest supplier of renewable water in the state of Arizona. We operate and maintain a 336 mile long aqueduct and pumping plant system that stretches from our source at the Colorado River to the communities of central and southern Arizona. On a yearly basis, we pump and deliver over 1.5 million acre-feet of water to enhance the state’s economy and quality of life and ensure sustainable growth for current and future populations of Arizonans. In this position, you would help guide CAP in identifying solutions to technical engineering problems to ensure that technical documentation for those elements are accurate, complete and retrievable. In addition, you would carry out or oversee the design of solutions to engineering problems. A few of the specific responsibilities include:
- Provide complete and professional design services and technical leadership for the purpose of planning and constructing new features of the CAP and modifying, operating, and maintaining existing features of the CAP through engineering expertise and coordination of all related disciplines. This includes the preparation of, or technical oversight of, plans and specifications, internal Work Packages, and materials and cost estimates.
- Prepare, conduct, and coordinate, and communicate technical studies and investigations.
- Review and communicate review comments on contract submittals, inspect work done by contractors and CAP maintenance personnel, and provide technical input on work quality and adherence to codes and standards.
- Create and maintain records (drawings, specifications, design assumptions, internal and external contact history, calculations, etc.) that reflect the condition and history of CAP property.
