This position will be responsible for conducting the specific aims of an RO1 grant (three aims) and prepare manuscripts for publication.
1) the first aim is to define the roles of microRNAs in regulating expression of GSTZ1
2) the second aim is to examine the reasons for the protection of GSTZ1 from inactivation by certain halide ions.
3) the third aim is to examine the roles of tissues other than liver in metabolizing dichloroacetate under chronic treatment with the drug.
The incumbent should be familiar with molecular biology techniques, HPLC, and enzyme assay. The position also entails work with human tissues and rats, independent grant writing, daily communication with Dr. James as well as other lab members including but not limited to faculty, staff, students.
Ph.D in biomedical or pharmaceutical science discipline or biological chemistry
