Experienced professional being sought to participate in the development processes for the major building and construction codes and related engineering, architectural, accessibility and/or fire safety standards and conduct critical analyses of proposed changes. The Program Manager will be required to prepare rigorous public comments to support NAHB policy; to testify on behalf of the association; and to develop and maintain professional relationships and work positively with code and standard development committees, building official organizations, allied associations and other interested parties. This position is also responsible for assisting NAHB members and affiliates, staff, member committees, allied associations and others with technical and enforcement issues related to residential construction, codes and standards and preparing and distributing articles, issue updates, web pages, webinars and other resources to ensure NAHB remains the premier source of information and education on residential construction, codes and standards.
Qualified candidates will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to address complex technical issues concisely and effectively; must be able to review and understand technical information related to building codes and material/design standards and offer solutions. The position requires good organizational skills and the ability to work effectively with others. The ideal candidate must have intermediate knowledge and skills utilizing Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat software applications.
Individuals should bring a minimum of five years of experience related to the design, construction, plan review and/or inspection of both single-family homes and multi-family buildings and ensuring compliance to building/construction codes and standards. Experience in the application of the International Residential Code and International Building Code is desired. Prior experience in the development of ICC model codes and industry standards is highly desirable.
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in engineering, construction management, material science or architecture or equivalent in education and experience.
