The University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) – The Department of Civil Engineering invites applications for a bipartite, full-time, non-tenure track position at the assistant professor level starting in the fall 2017. This position is renewable depending on performance and funding. The college is not able to provide visa sponsorship to foreign national candidates, but relocation funding is available.
Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses primarily at the undergraduate level and occasionally at the graduate level, advise undergraduate students, participate in departmental meetings, and take an active role in professional, community, and university service.
Excellent candidates in one or more of the five sub-discipline areas (e.g. Environmental, Geotechnical, Structural, Transportation, and Water Resources engineering) supported by the CE department will be considered; however, preference will be given to candidates who have:
Minimum Qualifications: Candidates must have earned a Ph.D., or M.S. with a minimum of three years of industry and/or teaching experience, in Civil Engineering or a closely related field by time of hire, and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Candidates must be capable of teaching courses in the undergraduate and graduate civil engineering degree programs.
