The Plant Performance Engineer would report to the Wilmington Improve Plant Manager and support the site’s improve plant process. This support includes identifying and implementing process and process control improvements as well as support/lead the reliability engineering effort at the site. The Automation Engineer will serve as the resident expert for Delta V systems for the site’s electrical/controls equipment.
Maintain and Improve the site’s DCS Controls System – Delta V training is preferred
Identify and implement process control improvements utilizing the Improve Plant Process.
Actively participant/lead the improve equipment reliability program on site
Support the maintenance of the Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
Interact with operators on a regular basis to ensure effective communication of production and compliance related changes in procedures and process changes. Conduct formalized training for operative/technical personnel as necessary.
Prepare, and review maintenance procedures, operating procedures, and change requests as required.
Responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, programming, and debugging process control systems.
Resolve complex system problems, including instrumentation, system problems and control wiring.
Own maintenance items related to the electrical/control system equipment to improve equipment reliability
Provide guidance and control to engineering companies and (sub)contractors that are responsible for outsourced process control system and software maintenance tasks and modifications.
Determine the root cause for equipment failures and initiate equipment or procedural changes to correct the problem.
Participate in project technical reviews, design reviews, incident reviews, audits, and HAZOP studies
Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering or Science discipline. A concentration or focus in Electrical and/or Electrical Controls strongly preferred.
Strong knowledge in working with DCS systems (Emerson - Delta V strongly preferred).
LEAN and Six Sigma training preferred.
Experience in managing and successfully completing projects.
3+ years of experience in maintaining and improving DCS systems preferable in PSM-regulated environments
