Applications are invited for a Director position in the recently established International School of Biomedical Diagnostics (ISBD) at Arizona State University (ASU); a unique and innovative initiative in the exciting and fast-growing field of diagnostics. ASU, along with our academic partner Dublin City University (DCU) and industry partners, is creating a critical incubator and producer of biomedical knowledge and innovation, committed to stimulating economic growth and improving the quality and longevity of life globally. The responsibilities include: foster collaborations across academic units and with industry partners that lead to new research initiatives and funding, enhance academic programs with these partners, advise, teach, and mentor students, and promote the school in outreach and development activities.This is a full-time, twelve-month (fiscal) administrative position, with a non-tenured research or clinical academic appointment,or tenured academic appointment based on qualifications as listed below. Responsibilities of this position include administrative duties, teaching, research and service. For a tenured position, responsibilities also must include research publications and research funding, and mentoring graduate theses and dissertations through completion. Rank is open (i.e., Associate or Full Professor) based on qualifications.
The School’s Master of Science degree in Biomedical Diagnostics is an example of new collaborations between public and private sectors. This entirely online degree views the diagnostics field broadly with courses that include technology, regulation, biomedical informatics, health policy and payment, and current perspectives in the field. At the intersection of the business and healthcare communities, our School’s mission is to educate the next generation of healthcare executives to understand, appreciate and better utilize Diagnostics in clinical medicine and scientific research; train students to be active, impactful and senior members of the healthcare and life science communities through course work and exposure to industry experts; positively impact the advancement of preventative health care and personalized medicine while lowering health care costs.
• MD and/or PhD degree in science, engineering, or health related fields • Evidence of visionary leadership and successful implementation of initiatives related to diagnostics in industry or academics • For a tenured position, evidence of annually published peer reviewed articles and research funding commensurate with rank, and experience with teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level
Demonstrated ability or potential to: • Develop highest quality academic programs with academic and industry partners, preferably with experience in developing new programs and at the gradate level • Establish world class research and publication programs across academic units and with industry partners • Build relationships across a large University • Build relationships with community partners in academics and industry worldwide • Teach, mentor, and advise students in curriculum and student project work • Fund raising or development experience • Work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team
