We are currently seeking experienced individuals for the following positions:
Rail Vehicle Electrical/Electronic Maintainers--Responsible for the inspection, adjustment, repair/replacement and overhaul of rail vehicles and related accessories. Requires at least 1 year experience in the repair, rewiring, testing and replacement of electric and electronic controls, current collection and associated accessories, knowledge of National Electrical Code and own hand tools. 1st Class Rail Vehicle Electrical/Electronic Maintainers start at 21.83/hour with an increase to $31.19/hour after 3 years. Employees in our Railroad Division are covered by the Railroad Retirement Program.
Rail Vehicle General Mechanics, 1st Class—Responsible for the inspection, cleaning, maintenance of rail vehicle electrical, pneumatic and mechanic equipment in our City and Railroad Divisions. Must possess at least 1 year of relevant mechanical and/or electro-mechanical experience. 1st Class Mechanics in our City Division starts at $28.60/hour and in our Railroad Division the starting rate of pay is $21.83/hour.
Body Welder, Railroad--Must be proficient in ARC and fuel gas welding and cutting on steel. Also welds aluminum, magnesium, alloys, and/or other light metal parts or items. Performs all position welding such as vertical, horizontal, overhead and flat welding. Must be an experienced and certified (e.g. Asmeddi, API, AWS, Military Standard 248) welder using fuel gas; must have experience with gas metal techniques. Starting salary is $22.76/hour with progressive increases each year. Top rate after 36 months is $32.52/hour.
Track Welder--Applicants must have at least 1 year experience in electric Arc welding, cutting and brazing various types of components such as Rail, switches, frogs and all special work components. CDL Class B permit is required. Must possess own tools and be certified by ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers), AWS (American Welding Society) or ABS (American Bureau of Ships). Starting salary is $28.31/hour with a top rate after 1 year of $31.46/hour.
Body Mechanics, 1st Class—For our Vehicle Equipment Maintenance Department on bus or rail vehicles. Must be an experienced vehicle Rebuilder with skills in sheet metal work, fiberglass repair, carpentry and welding and possess own tools. Starting salary is $28.31/hour with an increase to $31.46/hour after one year.
Equipment Mechanic—Requires graduation from a two year technical school or related experience in diagnosis, inspection, repair and installation of controls and components of track and construction mechanical/hydraulic equipment and air tools. CDL Class A permit obtained within 90 days and own tools required. Starting salary is $29.5187/hour with an increase to $32.7986/hour after one year.
Bus Fleet & Equipment Mechanics (1st & 2nd Class)—I year experience as an automotive mechanic with the ability to repair gas and diesel engines and transmissions required. Mechanics with dealership experience desired. Pay rate for 1st Class Mechancs begins at $28.31/hour with an increase to $31.77/hour after 12 months. 2nd Class Mechanics start at $18.25/hour with progressive increases each year. The goal for 2nd Class mechanics is to advance to 1st class.
All positions require a high school diploma or equivalent (technical school a plus) and valid driver's license.
