DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Performs complex engineering, GIS, and GPS duties relating to the design, operation and maintenance of the stormwater drainage system. Performs development review, including stormwater engineering calculations, plans, and technical reports. Manages professional services contracts and stormwater construction projects. Conducts construction site and illicit discharge inspections, investigations and documentation. Manages the surface water quality sampling program and coordinates with other Divisions regarding the operation and maintenance of the stormwater drainage system. Work includes extensive contact with consultants, contractors, the general public, government agencies and Town Staff. Prepares and delivers technical reports and presentations to Town staff and elected officials.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Science, or related field, with two years of progressive experience in GIS technology (ArcGIS) or an equivalent combination of education and experience. One to Two (2) years of responsible engineering practice with focus on water resources and stormwater management, public sector experience preferred. North Carolina Certified Erosion Control Inspector and North Carolina Surface Water Identification Training and Certification (SWITC), or ability to obtain within two years of employment. Valid NC Driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
