Hiring Range: $51,230 to $67,870

City of Prescott Department of Public Works is seeking a positive and energetic person to provide quality and timely plan review for new private development infrastructure. This person must enjoy providing service to the community, thrive in a team environment and demonstrate adaptability to a dynamic and fast paced work environment. The person in this position collaborates with many partners to implement City Goals, policies and standards; oversees Public Works interest related to building and other permits.
The Senior Plan Reviewer is part of the Engineering Review Team, works cohesively with the Community Development and Fire Department to develop and implement permit process/procedure and ensure business needs are met. The ideal candidate has the ability to provide superior customer service while operating in a dynamic environment with diverse community interests and needs. This position may have supervisory responsibilities.
Tasks: Performs plan review daily related to public infrastructure within the Cities permit center. Perform technical level engineering support for customers with a focus on commercial development. Reviews plats, plans, graphics for development plan review, legal descriptions and exhibits, and topographic maps. Utilizes a variety of technical engineering programs to review and evaluate data from water, sewer, drainage and geotechnical reports. May assist with project design using CADD for various in-house projects. Provides support to the City Permit Center. Represents the Public Works Department at pre-application conference (PAC) meetings.
Responds to questions from the general public regarding engineering and permit topics. Conducts field observations of private development projects related to permits using checklists and General Engineering Standards. Reviews topographic survey information and mapping for the design of roads and drainage systems.
Reviews plats, boundary surveys and legal descriptions for the City, with the City Surveyor. Responds to general inquiries regarding FEMA floodplain information. Researches and identifies the availability of water and sewer service utilizing the digital Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping system, as-built plans and field data; generates and submits requests for water and sewer utility services, and calculates plan review and inspection construction fee charges, including impact fees. Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
A Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or related field and a minimum of five (5) years of work in the field of civil engineering or construction. Any equivalent combination of education, work experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position will be considered. Education/Training may be substituted for a maximum of three (3) years of experience. Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license or ability to acquire one within three (3) months of hire.
Physical and Visual Ability: Sufficient to effectively and safely perform required duties.
Hearing and Speaking Ability: Sufficient to clearly, concisely and effectively communicate in person and over the telephone.
