Provides overall project management and contract administration for multiple multimodal transportation improvement projects from scoping through final design. Provides engineering design and review of project plans designed by outside consultants. Ensures plans, plats, and specifications conform to all applicable standards and requirements. Reviews and negotiates contracts. Prepares and monitors project schedules. Is responsible for monitoring project budgets and timely completion of assigned projects. Coordinates project design with VDOT, County, and other regulatory/approval agencies and citizens to resolve project issues. Reviews and recommends payment of invoices. Participates in citizens information meetings and responds to citizen's issues. Performs other related work as required.Note: This recruitment will be used to fill multiple positions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Any combination of education, training and experience equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university accredited by the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technologies with a bachelor's degree in the appropriate engineering or architectural field; plus four years of progressively responsible professional experience in the appropriate engineering field.CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:A valid driver's license.NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check to the satisfaction of the employer.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Minimum seven years of experience in hands on design of multi-modal transportation improvement projects including bike & pedestrian/walkway/trail facilities, Spot & intersection improvements, Roadway widening, etc. Experience and working knowledge of federal and Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) design standards, guidelines, policies and procedures. Experience in the use of computer applications and software, including MSOffice, MS Project, AutoCAD Land Development Desktop, AutoCAD Civil3D and/or Microtation. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Work is generally sedentary. However, employee may be required to do some walking, standing, bending, and carrying of items under 25 pounds in weight.
