Overview / Responsibilities Wood is currently seeking a registered Professional Engineer with solid waste, geotechnical, site civil, and project management experience to join and help grow an established Civil Engineering practice. Water resources experience is also desirable. The ideal candidate will be energetic, self-motivated, organized, and experienced managing projects. Engineering design and production skills including developing drawings, specifications, design reports, and bid documents is required. Key Responsibilities The successful candidate will join Wood’s Civil Engineering team to lead, work with, and mentor our solid waste, site civil, and water resources engineers. Duties will include all facets of managing projects, and the following responsibilities:•Leading and completing engineering analyses for solid waste, civil, and water resources projects •Supervising and checking work performed by junior engineers and technicians•Preparing and controlling the quality of construction documents, specifications, and opinions of probable construction costs•Preparing permit applications •Overseeing construction quality assurance and certifying construction activities•Interacting with and managing clients•Interacting with regulatory agencies•Building trust and relationships with existing clients leading towards developing new business with those clients•Writing proposals and reports•Some travel/field work may be required
Skills / Qualifications Required •Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering required, Master’s Degree preferred•North Carolina Professional Engineering certification preferred, or ability to obtain it within 6 months•8-10+ years of experience in solid waste/geotechnical/civil/water resources design •Capacity to work independently with minimal supervision and oversight•Team player, with abilities to multi-task and complete various assignments at once•Competency in the areas of technical knowledge, office/field supervision, and project management •Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills•Ability to manage staff and projects•Experience preparing and/or supervising the production of construction drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D•Experience with project management software such as MSProject or Primavera P6•Knowledge of geosynthetics design, static/seismic slope stability analysis, leachate management facilities, piping and pumping systems, is preferredPreferred•Knowledge of and experience with North Carolina solid waste regulations•Experience with Coal Combustion Residual surface impoundments and landfills is a plusCompany Overview Wood is a global leader in the delivery of project, engineering and technical services to energy and industrial markets.
