The Department of Family Medicine includes one of the first accredited addiction medicine fellowship programs, which operates in conjunction with a family medicine residency program that is one of the nation’s oldest and largest. The Department is engaged with developing and evaluating medical school curriculum.
The Vice Chair will be responsible for an Addiction Medicine Section that staffs the chemical dependency unit at Erie County Medical Center as well as a dedicated addiction medicine community practice whose patients include a substantial number of pregnant women. The section also staffs a local methadone program, a residential detox and stabilization facility, an adolescent treatment center and a free-standing faculty private practice office, and the unit has been expanding activities with justice-involved populations. Research is well-integrated into the educational and clinical missions – the Vice Chair is a key member of the UB Primary Care Research Institute and collaborates with the nationally recognized Research Institute on Addictions.
The candidate will have a strong record of scholarship and experience as an addiction medicine clinician/educator, with administrative skills in operation of an academic unit.
