Are you an experienced Engineer or Architect who has more than ten years of experience designing and managing infrastructure and capital improvement projects for Class I railroads? Do you possess engaging leadership and mentorship skills? Do you have experience cultivating and enhancing relationships with key railroad decision-makers from the Pacific Northwest to Southern California? If so, we have an exciting and highly rewarding opportunity for you to lead our West Coast Rail team!
As the West Coast Area Manager, you will lead a talented team of engineering professionals that provide multi-disciplined design and construction management services for Class I and short line railroad, rail transit and commuter agency, and public works projects throughout the states of Washington, Oregon, and California. You will be responsible for coaching, mentoring, and developing the team in relation to overall team objectives and their professional aspirations.
You will also serve as a Project Manager and be responsible for reviewing and negotiating contracts, evaluating the scope, complexity and scheduling requirements of current and prospective projects, coordinate planning and scheduling strategies, and monitor business expenditures and budget parameters to ensure successful project execution from conception through construction. You will leverage your technical knowledge to implement quality assurance and quality control reviews to ensure technical quality and accuracy. You will also coordinate project schedules with the railroad and various government agencies (city, county, and state) and oversee construction management activities of third parties (government agencies, private developers, and contractors) who are performing construction on, adjacent to, or within close proximity to existing railroad property, facilities, or Right-of-Way (ROW).
Under our “Seller-Doer” approach to business development, you will collaborate with the Vice President of Railroad Services and a team of multi-disciplined professionals to advance our professional services with Class I railroads. You will contribute to and lead the development and implementation of marketing plans, track prospective business opportunities, make strategic decisions for project pursuits, facilitate proposal development efforts, and represent TKDA at project interviews. You will also cultivate and maintain relations with Class I railroad representatives up and down the West Coast (Pacific Northwest to Southern California) by attending local, regional and national conferences and networking events. By increasing awareness of our service offerings and enhancing our service capabilities, you will position TKDA for opportunities and pursuits that involve multi-disciplined design as well as construction management and inspection services.
