We are looking for a vibrant and dynamic Research Officer, Rail Transit Infrastructure to support our Construction Research Centre. The Research Officer, Rail Transit Infrastructure would be someone who shares our core values of impact, accountability, leadership, integrity and collaboration. The primary responsibility of the RO is to support the goals of NRC and the research centre through research of international calibre and the development and application of advanced technologies. The RO works in a team environment with researchers and technical experts in world-class facilities. Activities include the development of proposals for new research initiatives, project management, and providing service to NRC clients. The RO provides input into the overall direction and research priorities for the program area within the context of the research centre business plan. The Research Officer, Rail Transit Infrastructure would be expected to lead NRC’s existing efforts related to the impact of climate change on track, tunnels, power supplies and other types of fixed infrastructure, working with staff from both the Construction and Automotive and Surface Transportation Research Centres. She/he would also be expected to conduct research in the areas of flood prevention in subway tunnels, thermal aging of electrical equipment and related areas. Development and expansion of NRC’s existing client base in the area of rail transit infrastructure would also be expected. Are you ready to be part of Canada’s tomorrow?
Extensive experience in research and/or development related to rail transit infrastructure other than track; Extensive experience with the engineering and/or operation of non-track rail infrastructure such as signals, ventilation, power systems and/or stations;
Significant experience in the design and analysis of laboratory and field tests related to rail transit infrastructure; including data collection and analysis, overseeing data production, and ensuring data quality; Significant experience leading multidisciplinary teams; and Experience in business development, marketing activities, and/or the development of partnerships and collaborations.
