This position is responsible for managing building repair & equipment replacement and construction/renovation projects. During project development, this position determines project scope, prepares cost estimates, prepares Requests for Qualifications (RFQ) and Requests for Proposals (RFP) for professional architectural/engineering (A/E) design firms, selects and hires consultants, negotiates design fees, develops and manages design contracts, reviews and approves design and construction documents, manages the bidding process, hires construction contractors, prepares construction contracts including award by BOCC if applicable, manages/monitors the construction process, oversees consultant construction administration, reviews and approves consultant and contractor invoices and change orders, coordinates and communicates between customer, A/E, and contractor, approves project close-out documents, and ascertains that all systems and facilities are in compliance with the contract documents. The position may also assist with the procurement and monitoring of service contractors for the Facilities Maintenance & Operations Division which includes but is not limited to HVAC, plumbing, electrical, structural and petroleum equipment maintenance
Licensing Requirements: Valid Driver's License. Positions require one of the following; Licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE), Architect, or a (4) year Construction Management Degree from a regionally accredited College or University may be considered in lieu of a PE for Project Managers in the Facility Maintenance and Operations Division.
The desired profile is for a licensed engineer or architect with a minimum of four years experience after licensure. Construction Project Management experience and teamwork skills are important qualifications. Position requires a valid NC or SC driver's license.
