The IACUC Administrator provides program management support to the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) through the Office of Research Compliance. The IACUC Administrator plays an essential role in UB’s strong commitment to the Animal Care Program in the protection of animal research subjects as well as compliance with applicable State and Federal regulations and accreditation standards. This position requires project management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to interact professionally with faculty.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
-Develop tools/ mechanisms to review IACUC functions to implement and manage an integrated, efficient and effective compliance program for animal research to ensure compliance with regulations guiding research.
-Develop policies and standards for IACUC functions.
-Advise and/or provide expert guidance to institutional committees and officials and research staff on regulatory issues related to animal care and use compliance.
-Perform analytical and evaluative work associated with regulatory issues and program activities.
-Communicate constructively and proactively with the IACUC Members, investigators, research staff and institutional officials, as a means of implementing and maintaining compliance with federal and regulations and institutional policies and procedures.
Bachelor’s Degree and at least 3 years of experience in an administrative biomedical research setting.
Working knowledge of laboratory animal medicine including knowledge in IACUC processes, and regulatory agencies (e.g., USDA, OLAW, AAALAC)
CIPA certification strongly preferred (Certified Professional IACUC Administrator).
