Overview / Responsibilities Wood Environmental & Infrastructure Solutions seeks a self-motivated leader to manage the environmental services practice in our Charlotte, North Carolina office. Wood offers broad based environmental services to both public and private clients including site characterization and remediation, industrial hygiene related services, planning and permitting, and compliance. The candidate should possess a balanced portfolio of skills including a strong technical understanding of their primary area of practice and experience in other aspects of environmental consulting, including business development and business management experience, staff development, and demonstrated relationship-building abilities.Key Responsibilities •Provide leadership in technical, business development, financial and administrative aspects of the consulting business to sustain and expand a successful environmental operation•Manage and expand a diverse technical workforce to support environmental projects - Disciplines include geology, remediation, geochemistry, hydrology, hydrogeology, industrial hygiene, biology, air quality, soil science, environmental planning, due diligence, compliance audits etc.•Coordination with other Amec Foster Wheeler units •Develop strategic plans for unit and work with Office Manager on office-wide strategic planning•Develop financial budgets for unit•Lead business development for unit and work with OM on office-wide business development•Manage the financial aspects with monthly and quarterly business metric reporting•Communicate effectively with clients, staff and Wood leadership•Develop existing staff, identify and recruit new prospects for future growth•Assure delivery of quality products•Provide senior review and direction on technical projects•Serve as senior project manager and/or project expert on specific tasks or projects
Skills / Qualifications •BS/MS in Geology, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or Safety and Environmental Management•Professional License in technical discipline with PE or PG preferred•Strong leadership and communication skills•Strong professional network with a proactive external focus•High-level strategic planning, organization and execution skills•Proven track record of profitable business management•Minimum 10 years of professional experience, with 3-5 years management experience for an environmental/engineering consulting firm, preferred•Experience managing large projects•Experience in business management including financials•Experience managing and motivating diverse workforce of project managers and technical staff•Experience in developing business within siting/permitting, construction, environmental investigation and/or remediation servicesOther Requirements•A valid driver's license and clean DMV report•Ability to pass a background check for entry into DoD facilities•Flexibility to work outside normal business hours as required•Flexibility to travel as required (generally less than 20%)•Perform pre-bid or other site visits with staff/clients that may involve traversing outdoor properties with steep or uneven terrain and/or through Industrial and Commercial facilitiesCompany Overview Wood is a global leader in the delivery of project, engineering and technical services to energy and industrial markets.
