Under the direction of the Bureau Chief of Project Development; manages and reviews complex engineering task recommendations to improve traffic safety, capacity and efficiency on the county roadway system. Supervises the planning, design, and technical reviews for regional, sub-regional and county roadway projects and initiatives. Ensures projects are aligned with current traffic engineering principles and practices. Manages technical staff in analysis of traffic control device and traffic signal design; traffic operations; traffic engineering studies; pavement markings; signage; road-side safety; crash analyses; land development engineering reviews; and other related engineering assignments. Develops/integrates standards and policy for Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) design and operations on local and regional levels. Serves as a departmental liaison to elected officials; Federal, State and local governmental agencies; as well as the general public on traffic related issues. Performs other duties as assigned.
