A post-doctoral position (0-2 yrs experience) is available immediately in the laboratory of Dr. Brian Burrell (http://sites.usd.edu/brian-burrell/) in the Division of Basic Biomedical Sciences at the University of South Dakota. The project focus is on modulation of synaptic transmission by endocannabinoids related to nociception. A PhD with experience in electrophysiology is required as well as a willingness to work with invertebrate model systems (research in the Burrell lab uses Hirudo verbana). Experience with molecular biology techniques is also desirable. Funding is available for two years with extensions contingent on future funding. In addition to research experience (developing and conducting experiments, analyzing data, writing peer-reviewed manuscripts), opportunities for professional development (mentor training, opportunities to teach, etc.) will also be provided.
