The successful applicant for this position will provide teaching excellence in the Agricultural Engineering Technology degree program. The teaching assignment (traditional delivery and/or online) will involve graduate and undergraduate instruction primarily for AGET majors, and other majors/minors at the University. Responsibilities include supervision of the AGET degree program, overseeing student-directed studies and internships, supervising undergraduate/graduate research projects, supervising graduate student thesis and comprehensive exam committees, recruiting students for the program, and co-advising AGET majors and the Agricultural Engineering Technology Club. This faculty member will participate in research and scholarly activities commensurate with rank. Additionally, this faculty member will participate in service activities that serve stakeholders at the department, campus, community, state, and national levels. This may include service to the Texas and National FFA organizations, Texas 4-H, state and national Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources teachers, business and industry groups, and professional organizations. For an appointment at the associate professor level, the candidate will need to have a positive professional reputation for collegiality, a solid record of scholarly publications and service, and a record of extramural funding necessary to sustain a research program.
This faculty position will be located on the Sam Houston State University (SHSU) campus in Huntsville, TX. Rank will be determined when the position is filled and is dependent upon the experience of the candidate.
Experience Required for the Position
Preferred Job Qualifications:
Employment at a post-secondary institution and experience teaching AGET related courses, experience with distance education technology, teaching strategies, and Learning Management Systems (LMS) Leadership experience with AGET-type programs and student organizations.
History of graduate student mentoring and hands-on experience with statistical analysis of research data. Success in the development of a highly productive scholarly agenda, including publications in refereed journals, success in obtaining funding to support sustainable research projects and success in providing professional development workshops to stakeholder groups (i.e. agricultural science teachers, industry groups, etc.)
Three years of teaching experience in Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources at the secondary education level and/or three years of industry experience related to the AGET curriculum.
