The Engineer II/III will prepare and review plans, specifications, estimates, and reports involving the construction, maintenance and operation of a variety of engineering projects including water, sanitary sewer and stormwater, to ensure compliance with Public Utilities standards and city, state, and federal requirements.
This position will be filled as an Engineer II or III, depending upon the qualifications of the candidate selected. The starting salary range for the Engineer II is $61,256.00 - $73,5074. The starting salary range for the Engineer III is $71,032.00 - $85,238. Final determination of job title and salary will be determined following the interviews, and will be based on a review of the selected candidate's experience and education. This is an Alpha I position. The person selected for this position may be required to work during inclement weather and emergency conditions, regardless of the City's operational status.

Requires a Bachelor's Degree from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) approved engineering or engineering technology program with possession of an E.I.T. (Engineer In Training) Certificate and two (2) years of progressive professional experience; OR a Bachelor’s Degree from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) approved engineering technology program with possession of a Land Surveyor’s license and two (2) years of progressive professional experience; OR an Associate’s Degree in Engineering with six (6) years’ progressive professional experience plus possession of an E.I.T. Certification, OR a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license from the Virginia Board for Architects, Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, Certified Interior Designers and Landscape Architects (APELSCIDLA).
