Overview / Responsibilities Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions is currently seeking a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Analyst to join our dynamic team in Knoxville, TN. Ideal candidates will have a BS degree in GIS, Geography, Environmental Science, Computer Science, or equivalent, and 5+ years’ experience. Programming and relational database experience is also a plus. The successful applicant must be enthusiastic about learning and pushing technical limits / finding new solutions for our engineering (technology) related projects and clients.Key Responsibilities •Create high quality maps, GIS analysis, and data for reports to support a variety of engineering projects•Perform both geographic and non-geographic data manipulation, management and analysis, cartography, and develop / use automated GIS processes using a variety of software (ESRI's ArcGIS Desktop v10x ArcMap, ArcCatalog, ArcGIS Online, Collector for ArcGIS)•Assist with data management and maintenance in accordance with various local and federal data standards (SDSFIE)•Provide support in deploying GPS devices for field programs and downloading data from GPS to GIS•Revise existing GIS layers and create new layers following established standards and procedures•Correct geospatial location of features based on aerial photography or topography•Able to search for spatial and GIS related data online and incorporate into ArcGIS software for business use•Provide time estimates for project proposals and RFPs (Request For Proposals)•Work on multiple projects simultaneously, with a commitment to keeping projects on schedule and within budget•Be a contributing member during decision making process for numerous situations•Work in a production-oriented fast paced environment and be team oriented•Proactively provide your own ideas and solutions to solve business problems large and small•Maintain metadata and best practices to support systems and data
Skills / Qualifications Required •Must have a BS degree in GIS, Geography, Environmental Science, Computer Science or equivalent•5+ years of experience or any equivalent education and experience•Proficiency in Microsoft Office software •Database development and management proficiency•Must possess good organizational, and oral and written communication skills•Ability to work both independently and as part of a team•Excellent analytical / problem-solving skills•Attention to details and experience with QA / QC and data analysis•Presentation skills, including the ability to clearly communicate GIS technologies•Must pass drug test, background check, and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policyPreferred•Familiarity with programming languages (Python / Visual Basic / C++) is a plus•GISP Certification is a plus•Experience with GPS Pathfinder Office software and GPS peripherals•Experience with Relational Database Management Systems (Microsoft Access, SQL Server, etc.)•Experience with development of applications for data collection using laptops, smartphones and tablets is a plus•Experience of processing LiDAR is a plus•Experience with CAD platforms and data exchange between CAD / GIS environments is a plus•Photogrammetry experience is a plus•Experience working with aerial drones is a plusCompany Overview Wood is a global leader in the delivery of project, engineering and technical services to energy and industrial markets.
