SERVICE AREA AND REGION
Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (“Metro”) is the public transportation operating agency for Los Angeles county. Metro serves as transportation planner and coordinator, designer, builder, and operator for one of the country’s largest and most populous counties. More than 9.6 million people (nearly one-third of California’s residents) live and work within our 1,433-square-mile service area. Metro was formed in 1933 out of the merger of Southern California Rapid Transit District and the Los Angeles County Transportation Commission. Metro directly operates bus, light rail, heavy rail, and bus rapid transit services. It provides funding and directs planning for commuter rail and freeway/expressway projects within Los Angeles County.
Metro is the third largest public transportation system in the United States, with over 400 million annual ridership and operates 105 miles of urban rail service. Metro also partially funds sixteen municipal bus operators and a wide array of transportation projects including bikeways and pedestrian facilities, local roads and highway improvements, goods movement, Metrolink regional commuter rail, Freeway Service Patrol, and freeway call boxes within the greater metropolitan Los Angeles region.
SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Metro is seeking qualified candidates to become the next Chief Information Technology Officer (CITO). The CITO directs and oversees the overall activities of Metro’s Information Technology (IT) Department and contributes to overall Metro business strategy development, bringing a current knowledge and future vision of leveraging information and technology. The CITO reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer.
In addition to leading the development of the IT strategy and roadmap and ensuring integration with Metro’s strategic planning process, the CITO also:

The successful candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or other related field, as well as 8 years’ senior management-level experience administering information systems. A Master’s degree in a related field is desirable.
