There are two (2) available positions associated with this requisition. PURPOSE:To provide support and assistance to all areas of Engineering Construction Services at the Port of Seattle including compliance of construction contracts; quality control; drafting, monitoring and tracking construction documents; and maintaining construction related logs and databases. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:This list is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY, and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and duties performed. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:Compile and maintain all construction documents. Assist with or independently draft or develop correspondence and construction documents including serial letters, commission memos, meeting notes, construction bulletins, change orders, utility shutdown forms, key requests, and security access forms. Maintain project Trend Logs and produce tracking reports. Coordinate distribution and review of contractor submittals and Request for Information (RFI). Assist with the identification of potential cost and/or time issues. Assist in project setup, user training, and system maintenance for the Construction Document Management System. Assist with resolution of construction related discrepancies by researching and analyzing past projects, design drawings, trends, etc. Coordinate stakeholders including Port departments, contractors, tenants, etc. to ensure proper documentation and execution of utility shutdowns, Construction Advisory Forms, site access and key requests. Resolve associated field issues. Provide oversight on construction sites to ensure compliance with construction documents, timely installations according to project schedule, and maintain quality assurance. Maintain regular contact with affected Port departments, the community, tenants, etc. to provide regular updates on the construction process. Perform administrative duties including interpreting contract documents, performing project close?out, and assisting with processing of pay applications. Attend construction meetings as necessary. Provide guidance to document control team to ensure consistent and proper documentation. Special projects and initiatives (e.g., drafting/updating of Construction Services Standard Operating Procedures) as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:Basic knowledge of how projects are conceived, designed and built; types of materials and methods used; techniques for estimating the cost of construction. Basic knowledge of structural, mechanical and electrical engineering. Basic knowledge of construction law, construction accounting, safety requirements and project management. Excellent communication skills both written and verbal. Good research and analysis skills. Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access and PowerPoint). Excellent organizational skills. Skill in working as an effective team member. Actively engages in continuous learning and growth. Demonstrates respect for others. Ability to read and understand project plans, project schedules and specifications. Ability to use financial tracking, standard project management tools, and reporting tools. Ability to handle multiple tasks on multiple projects with constantly changing priorities. Ability to seek and receive direction from manager; keeps manager informed on both positive and negative issues.
