The Rutgers School of Health Professions invites applications for two full-time, 12-month faculty positions in the Department of Clinical Laboratory Sciences: one Program Director position for the Master of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science-MLS Track, and one faculty position. Both positions are available in Spring 2018. The new faculty will be joining SHP at an exciting time of growth and expansion with the development of a new center of excellence, the Center for Diagnostics and Healthcare Quality. This Center will serve as an umbrella for collaboration across research and educational programs that span SHP’s departments of Clinical Laboratory Sciences, Medical Imaging Sciences, and Health Informatics.
Program Director: Major responsibilities are to provide leadership and administration of the program in alignment with the strategic plan of the department and school, including the program budget, resource allocation, curricular planning and assessment. In addition, responsibilities of faculty as stated below also pertain to the Program Director. Qualifications include a doctoral degree, professional US certification as a medical laboratory scientist MLS (ASCP)CM, a minimum of 5 years of experience in clinical laboratory science including teaching and program administration, and a strong record of scholarship, including a history of peer-reviewed publications, and professional service.
Faculty Position: Responsibilities include campus and online course development and instruction in primarily graduate courses with some teaching in undergraduate courses. Areas include microbiology, molecular biology, clinical chemistry, and/or transfusion practice, graduate research advisement, active participation in research, grant writing, and other scholarly activities; service to the university, school, and professional community. Qualifications include a doctoral degree, professional US certification as a medical laboratory scientist MLS (ASCP)CM, a minimum of 3 years of experience in clinical laboratory science including teaching, and a record of scholarship and professional service. Candidates with a master’s degree will be considered if they have a scholarly portfolio and are matriculated in a doctoral program.

CLS offers the first professional Doctorate in Clinical Laboratory Science (DCLS) program in the nation, an MS in Clinical Laboratory Science with tracks in Medical Laboratory Science and Cytopathology, and an undergraduate BS level program in Medical Laboratory Science.
