Field Information Systems is a new product area for Orica, focused on creating a set of hardware and software solutions to gather and analyse blast data to drive better management and blast outcomes. The Customer Solutions Engineer is a new role at Orica, and they will be at the forefront of defining the role and the products. This is a great opportunity for someone with an entrepreneurial spirit to get in on the ground floor of a new fast-growing product line! It involves on-site technical implementation of networked hardware/software systems in the demanding mining environment. But it also involves developing customer relationships, uncovering customer needs, and helping the marketing team to define the message to grow our customer base. Will be asked to assess mining productivity based on input from the business.
This position is a combination of business development and engineering (mechanical, software, and/or mining).
The Role – Customer Solutions Engineer - USA - Watkins, CO
This role is:1. Ideal for someone with a strong entrepreneurial spirit2. Accountable for leading Field Information System (FIS) adoption and expansion focused on successful customer planning and implementation to deliver customer value and sustainable revenue to the North American business 3. Responsible for providing Training to internal and external customers relating to FIS 4. Accountable for project management, implementation and will provide ongoing support of FIS services at customer sites 5. Responsible for assisting the FIS product development team to continuously improve the FIS market offering based on an intimate understanding customer needs and the customer user environment. 6. This person will be expected to travel up to 50% of the time to customer sites and regional Orica centres

Preferred but not limited to the following experience:
- A BS or MS in one of the hard sciences or engineering disciplines, including some background in networked software systems, data structures, and geopositioning systems- Mining background a plus- Technical background in networked software/hardware.- Ability to interact well with customers- Strong analytical skills- Above average communication skills- Industrial product knowledge a plus- Business development, customer-centric background and interest- Strong project management skills- Strong training skills
