This position involves project management and the preparation of traffic and travel forecasts and related data to support regional transportation projects, particularly Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) projects in southeastern Pennsylvania.
The employee will maintain and apply travel demand models to address the impacts of alternative transportation investments and policies on highway traffic volumes and transit ridership. Assignments may also include conducting and analyzing highway and transit travel surveys; preparing travel model input data such as land use data, transportation network characteristics, and demographic and employment data; estimating future transportation system demand for long range plans and the design of individual highway and transit facilities; and calculating operational statistics such as travel time, delay, and level-of-service. This position involves working with public and private sector agencies, decision-makers, and the general public. Supervision may be exercised over technical and administrative personnel. Work is performed in accordance with broadly-defined objectives and professional standards and is subject to administrative and technical review during progress and upon completion by the Manager, Office of Modeling and Analysis.
Experience & Training
To classify as a Level TE/RA IV, a minimum of six years of professional experience in civil engineering, transportation planning or a related discipline is required. Such experience may have been gained from a combination of experience and training. Training may have been gained through graduation from an accredited college or university. A Master’s degree or a full year of intern or co-operative education experience can be substituted for one year of experience.
