Faculty Positions in Aerospace Engineering
The Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at Arizona State University (ASU) invites applications for one or more tenure-track/tenured faculty positions in all disciplinary and cross-disciplinary areas of Aerospace Engineering, including fluid dynamics, structural dynamics, guidance and control, modeling, simulation, analysis and design, and all other areas relevant to contemporary challenges and opportunities in manned and unmanned aerospace systems. Higher priority is given to the overall originality, creativity, and promise of the candidate’s relevant work than to particular sub-areas of specialization.
Research interests of the forty one current aerospace and mechanical engineering faculty at ASU span a wide range of topics. Collaborative and transdisciplinary research are strongly emphasized at ASU and such efforts are facilitated by major on-campus research initiatives including the NewSpace Initiative (http://newspace.asu.edu/), the Flexible Electronics and Display Center (https://flexdisplay.asu.edu/), the Biodesign Institute (https://biodesign.asu.edu/), LightWorks (https://sustainability.asu.edu/lightworks/), Decision Theater Network (http://dt.asu.edu/), the Global Security Initiative (https://globalsecurity.asu.edu/), and addition to others.
Although tenure home may be in any of the Fulton Schools of Engineering, the School for Engineering of Matter, Transport and Energy is currently the most involved in the interest areas of the search with a possible secondary appointment if appropriate in any of the other five Fulton Schools of Engineering or in the School for Earth and Space Exploration. Appointments will begin in August 2018 and will be at the assistant, associate, or full professor rank commensurate with the candidate’s experience and accomplishments.
Faculty members are expected to develop an internationally recognized and externally funded research program, develop and teach graduate and undergraduate courses, advise and mentor graduate and undergraduate students, and undertake service activities within the university, in the professional community, and at the national level.
Review of applications will begin December 10, 2017; if not filled, reviews will occur on the 1st and 15th of the month thereafter until the search is closed. Apply at: https://hiring.engineering.asu.edu/. Candidates will be asked to submit the following documents through their Interfolio Dossier.
