The Thermal Protection Systems (TPS) is responsible for the passive insulation and sealing systems that protect the spacecraft from the extreme heat of re-entry. The TPS team spans many disciplines to succeed; ranging from hypersonic CFD, transient thermal analysis, brittle ceramic and composite stress analysis, mechanical and sealing design, extending to manufacture and installation of exotic materials. The TPS system interacts with virtually every other subsystem on the spacecraft, offering a broad and dynamic range of experience along with opportunity for growth. Moreover, it is not mandatory that candidates have prior experience with TPS or spaceflight. Prospective team members from a variety of engineering fields are encouraged to apply; success is best achieved through diversity.
