CONSTRUCTION ENGINEERING TENURE-TRACK FACULTY POSITION - The Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo invites applications for a full-time, academic year, tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in the area of Construction Engineering with specialization in civil infrastructure, structural engineering, geotechnical engineering and/or sustainable construction. The successful candidate will have specializations in one or more of the following areas: Building Information Modeling (BIM) and/or 4D modeling; sustainable/LEED construction and Best Management Practices (BMPs); earthwork/heavy civil construction practices; sustainable and resilient building infrastructure systems (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, structural, energy/power, and fire detection); construction/engineering integration; and/or innovative construction materials/methodologies. We expect the successful candidate to assume a lead role in creating a Construction Engineering curricular track option within our Civil and Environmental Engineering curriculum in collaboration with the Construction Management Department. Rank and salary are commensurate with experience. The position is available starting Fall 2018.

Responsibilities include: (a) teaching and developing undergraduate and graduate courses and laboratories related to Construction Engineering; (b) teaching support courses in the area of Structural Engineering; (c) supervising undergraduate and graduate-level research; (d) developing and maintaining externally funded research programs; (e) collaborating with other faculty on research and professional development interests; (f) engaging in activities related to service in the form of student club advisement, curriculum development and shared governance.
The Department offers two separate B.S. degree programs with approximately 675 undergraduate students in the Civil Engineering Program and 200 in the Environmental Engineering Program. Both programs are ABET accredited. The Department also offers an M.S. degree in Civil & Environmental Engineering with approx. 50 active graduate students.

An earned doctorate (Ph.D.) in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a closely related field from an accredited institution or international equivalent is required for appointment. Candidates nearing completion of the doctorate (ABD) will be considered, but must provide proof that the doctorate was completed prior to the start of the appointment. Practical construction experience and a PE are highly desirable.
