Our Detroit office, located in the heart of Mid-Town along the new Woodward Streetcar line, is growing. We have projects in cities throughout Michigan's lower peninsula. We are seeking a mid-level urban planner, 3-10 years of experience, preferably with community planning, urban design, transportation planning and graphic skills. Primary responsibilities will include:
Produce planning, design, presentation, and technical documents.
Support Project Managers with various tasks on a variety of projects.
Attend project meetings, which may include occasional overnight travel.
Gradually take on more design, graphic, communication, management, and client responsibilities.
Participate in continuing education both inside and outside the office.
Skills at time management to meet the needs of a variety of projects and deadlines.
Ability to work on project teams, with the role varying by project.
Strong writing capabilities, both technical and general language for the public.
Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook software required.
Proficiency in InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, AutoCAD, ESRI ArcGIS software, and Sketch-Up.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in urban planning.
3-10 years' minimum experience. Ideally some experience in transportation planning and private sector.
ITE's Professional Transportation Planner or AICP's Certified Transportation Planner credential is a plus.
