Under the direction of the Director of Operations, the Quality Assurance Manager is responsible to develop short and long range plans for, and manage the activities of engineers and technicians engaged in developing, evaluating and improving processes and systems in order to ensure compliance with customer and internal quality standards, and to develop and maintain positive and proactive relationships with customers, ensuring mutually beneficial and collaborative processes for maintaining product quality at competitive cost in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Directly supervises Quality Assurance Engineers and Technicians.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in industrial, manufacturing engineering, mechanical engineering, engineering technology, manufacturing administration or other relevant discipline combined with 6 to 8 years experience in quality engineering, including at least 5 years of management experience.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Requires a valid driver’s license.
OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES
Thorough working knowledge of: 8D problem-solving, manufacturing organization, including JIT (Just-In-Time) manufacturing theory, TPS (Toyota Production System) and TQM (Total Quality Management); theoretical and applied statistical analysis, with particular emphasis on probability theory, analysis of variance and hypothesis testing; sample design and sampling procedures; theoretical and applied principles of electrical, electronic and/or mechanical engineering; principles and practices of manufacturing and/or process engineering; inspection, measurement and testing protocols and procedures; quality testing equipment and instrumentation; and ISO 9001 requirements, processes and procedures. Thorough knowledge of, and ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering specifications, technical drawings, schematics and work manuals. Proficiency in using statistical and database applications software in mainframe, client-server and PC based computing platforms. Knowledge of budget planning and control principles and practices. Green or Black Belt preferred.
