Overview / Responsibilities Amec Foster Wheeler Environment & Infrastructure is currently seeking a Geotechnical Engineer / Project Manager to join our Salt Lake City, UT team. The successful candidate will provide geotechnical engineering and task management and be responsible for delivering geotechnical and geologic projects to Amec Foster Wheeler’s public and private sector clients. Projects generally include transportation, mining, site characterization, flood control, dams, levees, pavements, and other civil works projects.As a Project Manager you will play a key role in expanding the capabilities of growing the geotechnical group in Salt Lake City. The ideal candidate has strong technical capabilities, a commitment to delivering a quality product, and an interest in taking on a leadership role.Key Responsibilities•Will provide geotechnical engineering and task management and be responsible for delivering geotechnical and geologic projects to Amec Foster Wheeler’s public and private sector clients•Technical management and direction of site investigations and preparing technical reports•Geotechnical engineering analyses of slope stability, seepage analysis and LRFD formation design•Project and budget management including resource management and oversight•Managing and coordinating project teams, including ensuring the technical quality of deliverables•Manage client communications, expectations and satisfaction•Recognizes and initiates business development opportunities•Maintains effective client relationships; leverages project experience to win work•Lead and / or assist with the coordination, development and production of proposals, SOQs and presentations, ensuring the highest quality of information and documentation output•Manage, advise, coach and develop junior engineers•Collaboration and participation in technical discussions with team members
Skills / Qualifications •BS or MS in Civil Engineering. An emphasis in geotechnical engineering is a plus•Utah PE license or the ability to obtain within 6 months•5 - 10 years + relevant professional geotechnical engineering experience•Strong academic background and solid understanding of soil mechanics and local Utah soils and geology•Experience in two or more of the following areas:?Transportation?Mine design (tailings and heap leach)?Foundations?Earth dams and levees?Drilling, field investigations and laboratory testing•Good communication, report writing and presentation skills in English•Superior time management, planning and ability to interact with clients•Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with a team•Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook•Proficiency with SLOPE/W & SEEP/W a plus but not required•Ability and willingness to travel to project sites and approximately 10% overnight travel•Must pass drug test, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policyDiversity Statement We are an equal opportunity employer that recognises the value of a diverse workforce.
